Do you ever have feelings like you have no control over your binge eating? Do you ever wonder why in the world aren’t you strong enough to just say NO to that cookie, that Oreo, that brownie or those donuts?
Listen up! You’ll be surprised to find out that often times we use food in order to meet one of our six human needs.
Those are: Certainy, Love, Growth, Contribution, Signficance and Variety
In this episode, I will chat how I was meeting the need for certainty and variety through my binge eating, over eating and addiction to sugar. It wasn’t about my willpower or how strong I was to just say no. It was the fact that I had no clue that I needed to meet these needs and that I was doing it, but choosing a negative way to meet it.
So how can we not meet these needs in a negative way, but in a positive way? When I was able to understand this, I was able to have compassion for myself because I just didn’t know and then was able to take action to tweek how I met my needs and as a result…. I had less binges, less sugar cravings and less meals that I over ate.
